The Institutional Animal Ethics committee (IAEC) of CENTRAL LABORATORY ANIMAL HOUSE FACILITY, MUMBAI VETERINARY COLLEGE, MUMBAI is registered with ‘Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals’ (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Animal welfare division, Government of India for research and education purpose vide registration no. (230/GO/ReBiBt-S/Re-L/2000/CPCSEA Date: 08/06/2018). The objectives of IAEC are to facilitate legitimate scientific research involving experiments on animals ensuring ethical use of animals so that they are not subjected to unnecessary pain and sufferings.
ROLE OF IAEC: The Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) plays a crucial role in ensuring ethical and humane treatment of animals used in research, education, and breeding, by reviewing and approving research proposals, monitoring ongoing studies, and promoting animal welfare.
